Central Pierce Fire & Rescue offers babysitting classes. Safe Sitter® is a one day medically accurate program that educates adolescents 11-13 years old how to handle emergencies when caring for a child. The class teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. Students will learn: * How to administer CPR to infants and children. * What to do if a child gets a bloody nose. * What to say if 911 has to be called. * How to screen babysitting jobs to decide whether to accept or refuse. * How to change a diaper.
Please bring a lunch and a drink as this is a full day class.
The two forms listed below must be printed, completed and brought to class.
Note: Students must be 11 years old by the class date. Please arrive at 8:30am. Class starts at 9:00am.
Students who successfully complete the class will receive a Safe Sitter Manual® and a completion card.
