Thursday, 28 May 2020 8:30 AM - Saturday, 30 May 2020 2:00 PM CST

Brown School of Social Work, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, 63130, United States.

Influencing Social Policy (ISP) presents MACRO Conference 2020, The Power of MACRO Social Work: Forging Pathways Toward a More Just and Equitable World, in collaboration with ACOSA, Clark-Fox Policy Institute, CRISP, the Grand Challenges for Social Work, #MacroSW, and the Special Commission to Advance Macro Practice in Social Work. We invite social work educators, students, and practitioners at all levels of practice to participate in this groundbreaking event where we will grapple with complex social problems; share policy research, practice, and teaching wisdom; learn from each other; and, strengthen partnerships to work together for social change.

The conference runs from Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 PM to Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 PM.

The Macro Teaching Institute is a full day event that will precede the opening of the conference on May 28, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The Institute consists of intensive workshops that demonstrate key assignments, simulations, group discussions, online instruction, or other engaging teaching strategies across macro curricula. Participants enjoy hands on demonstrations and can expect to leave with innovative and creative teaching tools.

We are pleased to once again be hosted by the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.

We recognize that Missouri is one of a growing number of states that is passing legislation aimed at restricting and/or eliminating access to safe abortion services. The growing barriers to reproductive health care on the state and federal level are of great concern to many in our community. In response to recent legislation in Missouri and in fulfillment of our professional commitment to advance social, economic, environmental and political justice, we will be identifying ways in which conference and institute participants may become involved in supporting the local community in their efforts to combat restrictions to sexual and reproductive health care. In addition, we are developing a list of local businesses who share our values and commitment to the pursuit of social justice and equity.

We hope you will register today and we look forward to seeing you in 2020!
