There is no doubt that the recent pandemic and its effect on pupil's learning has challenged schools. But by developing and using long term memory development techniques we can improve outcomes and avoid 'learning loss' where possible in the future.
Additionally, the revised Inspection framework identifies long term memory development as an essential part of the primary phase of education ..... as well as being part of the Covid-19 inspections.
The course will cover :
- how to improve the retention of knowledge and skills
- developing teaching styles and methods to enhance long-term memory
- the concept of 'deep' learning and memory
- memory in pedagogy
- maximising opportunitities to retain key knowledge
- understanding metacognition and how it applies to long term learning
- how questioning approaches can alter retention
- how memory works and is developed in childhood
- theory based activities for improvements
The course will look at a wide variety of examples and give practical solutions to improving long term memory. It will look at examples of schools where this has paid dividends in terms of improved outcomes.
