What is it about?
FutureHAUS: winner of the DEWA Solar Decathlon 2018 is an alternative to conventional construction: a pre-fab delivery method for assembling medium and high-density urban housing, which can be less expensive and energy-efficient. The innovative home won first place overall in the competition, including first place in the sub contest for Best Architecture for exploring the seamless integration of smart technology in the home.
FutureHAUS is the only U.S based team of 14 university teams in the Solar Decathalon Middle East. The competition, launched by the United States Department of Energy and Dubai Electricity & Water Authority was designed to produce and test sustainable, grid-connected solar homes in Dubai’s desert climate, as the city aims to have the world’s smallest carbon footprint by 2050.
