Workshop Description:

Dare to Lead™ is a courage-building program for individuals and groups developed by Dr. Brené Brown. After decades
of research, over 400,000 pieces of data, experience with hundreds of organizations, and interviews with more than 150
global Csuite leaders, two things were very clear to Dr. Brené Brown and her team. We need braver leaders and courageous leadership skills are teachable, measurable, and observable.

Dare to Lead™ workshops offer attendees a chance to learn the foundational skills that enable leaders to do the hard
things that they must do but often avoid; initiate difficult conversations, make the hard decisions even when they are unpopular, and choose what is right over what is fast or easy.

In the first part of this program, participants will learn how to face risk, uncertainty, and tough conversations through courage, clarity, and empathy. Participants will discuss vulnerability and the role of empathy and self-compassion in leadership. Additionally, this presentation will highlight how risk, uncertainty, and emotional exposure are important parts of leadership.

The second part of this series will focus on the role personal values play in leadership and the importance of engaging feedback. Participants will identify their own personal values and discuss how to use their values to lead from a place of integrity. This program will lead participants in how to use their values to create behaviors of a leader. Additionally, participants will discuss the importance of engaging feedback and the language and tools needed to be effective in the feedback cycle including the ability to recognize defensiveness in feedback conversations.

In the third part of this series participants will learn to build meaningful and authentic connections within their networks and teams. Participants will discuss the methods leaders use to build a foundation of trust with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders. Participants will learn about the anatomy of trust and psychological safety and the role of boundaries, integrity, and generosity. Additionally, participants will discuss how to build trust with themselves, others, and teams.

In the fourth and final component of this program, participants will learn to become aware of their emotions and stories and use them to lead with courage. Participants will discuss the role of failure, disappointment, and setback and how they can use these to become a better leader. Topics will include emotional snags, methods to offload hurt, and ways to move forward in the face of setbacks. Additionally, participants will learn strategies for working with different emptions and ways to rewrite the ending of their personal stories. 

Learning Objectives:

Values, BRAVING Trust, & Learning to Rise
After attending this program participants will be able to:

Part 1: 
 Use courage, confidence and clarity when facing risk and uncertainty

 Show empathy in tough conversations

  Engage and lead confidently in tough conversations 

Identify how risk and uncertainty are important in leadership

Part 2:

  Identify their personal values

 Make aligned decisions based on values

  Give engaging feedback

 Recognize defensiveness in feedback conversations

Part 3:

 Build connections with others by identifying the value systems of others

 Describe the seven actionable, observable, and measurable components of trust

  Use connections with others to build trust among diverse group

Part 4:

 Recognize different emotions and their roles within their own personal leadership development

Use strategies to move through failures, setbacks, and disappointments

 Identify methods of offloading hurt

Program Standards and Goals:

This program meets APA’s continuing education Standard 1.1:
Program content focuses on application of psychological assessment and/or intervention methods that have overall consistent and credible empirical support in the contemporary peer reviewed scientific literature beyond those publications and other types of communications devoted primarily to the promotion of the approach.
 
This program meets APA's continuing education Goal 2:
Program will enable psychologists to keep pace with the most current scientific evidence regarding assessment, prevention, intervention, and/or education as well as important relevant legal, statutory, leadership, or regulatory issues.

100% of tuition is refundable up to 48 hours before the program. Within 48 hours of the program there will be no refunds.
