PALS Program Objectives

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Program is designed to meet the needs of all health care professionals, including pediatricians, emergency physicians, family practice physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists and others who work with, or may work with, pediatric patients.

The goal of the PALS Program is to provide the participant with:

• information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
• information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children
• the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.
