BEEKEEPING 101
Brothers In Bees, a Bucks County cause-based company that raises honey bee awareness and offers U.S. Veterans a rewarding experience through beekeeping, will present this series of educational programs. Instructors: Kyle Maio, USMC Veteran and Co-founder of Brothers In Bees, and Scott Courtney, USN Veteran and First Beekeeper.

 

POLLINATION SEMINAR
DATE(S): Monday, May 14 OR Thursday, July 19 @ 6:00 PM
FEES: $15/Person
Held at the Warminster Community Park
An informational seminar focused on the significant role our honey bees play in pollination. Participants can safely observe real honeybees while instructors answer your questions. Brothers In Bees Natural Raw Honey will be available to sample during the Q & A.

 

BEEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS
DATES: Saturday, April 7 @ 9:00 AM (4-hr workshop includes small group onsite hive inspection with BIB honey bees)
Saturday, July 14 @ TBD (2-hr follow-up session)
– Q&A and primer on pest management and prep for fall)
Fees: $75/person
Held at the Warminster Community Park
Participants will get a quick buzz-course into the basics of honey bees, beekeeping, and pollination and receive the materials and information needed to successfully set up for your first season of beekeeping. **Note: This course is two (2) sessions (6 hours) and has very limited space. Participants must take both sessions to receive all materials.

 

BEEKEEPING FOR VETERANS SEMINAR
DATE: Thursday, May 10 OR Friday, August 10 @ 4:30 PM (1-hour with Q & A afterwards)
FEES: FREE for Veterans - Donations accepted for our Veterans Beekeeping Fund
Held at the Warminster Community Park
This course is specifically designed for U.S. Veterans looking for a career change or who are interested in learning and becoming beekeepers. Participants will learn about the honey bee and how to get involved in this important agricultural skill. Veterans will hear how beekeeping can help veterans through listening to USMC Veteran and Brothers In Bees Co-founder Kyle Maio talk about his journey into beekeeping after returning from Iraq. Beekeeping is known to be extremely therapeutic and meditative.

 

HOW TO BE A BUZZ HOST

Are you interested in backyard beekeeping, enriching the health of your environment, yield better crops and flowers while helping save the world? If you have answered “YES”, come out and attend this informational seminar and learn how you can partner with Brothers In Bees and host a beehive on your property. Being a Buzz Host also helps our local U.S Veterans advance their skills as Beekeepers. Honey sampling will be offered during the Q & A.
