We are excited to offer a joint educational session presented by the Western Pennsylvania Municipal Managers (WPMM) and the Government Finance Officers Association of PA - West Region (GFOA-PA).
We will spend the majority of the session on a topic that impacts both organizations -- succession planning. Local governments face the challenge of ensuring continuity and consistency of service delivery while dealing with employee turnover. As we approach a time when large numbers of local government employees are eligible to retire, there is a concern that not enough qualified or available workers will be prepared to replace them. Recently retired colleagues will share their organizations' experiences in dealing with this challenge. Following that discussion, we will hear about hot topics in personnel and other legal issues.
