Recognized for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and often-daring repertory choices, over the past two decades the Pacifica Quartet has achieved international recognition as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today.
Formed in 1994, The Pacifica Quartet quickly won chamber music’s top competitions, including the Naumburg Chamber Music Award, the Cleveland Quartet Award, an appointment to Lincoln Center’s CMS Two, and in 2006 was awarded a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.
In 2017-18 the quartet performed the complete Beethoven cycle for the University of Buffalo’s renowned Slee Cycle, and completed a two -year residency at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
They have also performed the complete Beethoven and Shostakovich string quartets in New York, Denver, Chicago, Tokyo, Montreal, and London’s Wigmore Hall.
The quartet has recorded Elliott Carter’s string quartets for the Naxos Label, and is currently completing the recording of the Shostakovich Quartets for Cedille Records.
