This class will provide an overview of and "how to" for submitting evidence return background checks to the CBI Firearms Instacheck Unit. 

We will discuss how to use the RERC form in CCIC and what is required by your agency before a request can be made to the CBI.  We will provide a description of the responses sent by CBI.  Also provided, will be a description of the Appeal process and requirements for submitting an appeal to the CBI.

This class will also provide a detailed overview of the Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) process. 

 

Please note: this course is limited to current employees and contractors of criminal justice agencies, and is not open to the general public.

The CBI Firearms InstaCheck Unit functions as a Point of Contact for the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for all firearm transfers within the State of Colorado. It consists of three core sections: Firearm Transfers, Appeals and Concealed Handgun Permits (CHP).
