SURREY SATELLITE TECHNOLOGY: THE FIRST 60 YEARS

VICTORIA IRWIN,
BUSINESS LINE MANAGER - EARTH OBSERVATION,
SURREY SATELLITE TECHNOLOGY LTD. (SSTL)

PROGRAMME INTRO

Space is an extraordinary business and the UK is a world leader in the space sector punching above its weight in the space revolution. The turnover for the UK space industry has grown to almost £15 billion a year, with 40% of all small satellites currently in orbit are built in the UK.

In this particular sub-sector of the space industry, Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) has been in existence for over 30 years. The business has firmly established itself as the world’s leading small satellite manufacturer. As its first 30 years just pass, SSTL is certainly looking forward to what the business will look like in the decades ahead, in the next 30 years.

This lecture will provide the audience an overview of how the company began, what the business is working on today and what it intends to do in the future. The talk will also discuss the common themes that have, and will continue, to influence SSTL’s approach to improve access to space.

NOTE FOR REGISTRATION

Thanks for registering your attendance via our Eventzilla site.

We have streamlined our event registration process by introducing online booking platform as an alternative to email and telephone registeration for our lectures/events, as well as developing a way of tracking numbers on any lectures/events that may be oversubscribed.

When you book, please select the relevant ticket option, and the number of tickets you would like. The booking confirmation will be automatically emailed to you, and that there is currently no option for us to admit last minute registration at the door.

The application asks for both registration and attendee details - even if there is only one person on the booking, you must fill in all fields. If you are reserving more than one ticket please ensure you enter the name of all attendees so they are reflected on the attendee list.

If there is any problem incurred during the registration process, or if there's anything we can improve on this tool, please contact the Branch Secretary –
