Join local naturalist Daniel Edelstein and Jack from Wild Birds Unlimited for a bird walk at Novato's Rush Creek Open Space Preserve on Sunday, February 25 from 9 - 11:30 AM. Early spring is a great time to visit Rush Creek, with a high variety of shorebirds and waterfowl still present, as well as increasingly vocal songbirds preparing for the nesting season. We'll be walking out on the Pinheiro Fire Road for about 1.3 miles, looking at birds along the way, to reach Cemetery Marsh, a waterbird hotspot where we'll spend some time before returning the way we came.
Participation is free, but space is limited. You can read more about the birds of Rush Creek on our blog. Heavy rain on the day of the event may cancel; be prepared for muddy conditions if we receive significant rain in February. If you have any questions about the walk, please contact us at wbumarin@gmail.com or (415) 893-0500.
To reach Rush Creek, exit Highway 101 at Atherton Ave in Novato. Heading east on Atherton, make an immediate sharp left onto Binford Rd, a frontage road running parallel to 101. Look for the trailhead and roadside parking 60 yards after turning onto Binford.
Cancellation policy If you are unable to attend or need to change your number of participants, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make your spot available to others. Call the store at (415) 893-0500 or send us an email at wbumarin@gmail.com
