ACHIEVING GLOBAL MENTAL HEALTH EQUITY; MAKING CULTURAL PSYCHIATRY COUNT

PRE-CONGRESS DAY

Program

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

5TH WORLD CONGRESS OF THE WORLD ASSOCIATION OF CULTURAL PSYCHIATRY

Culture affects every aspect of clinical care

This conference brings together cultural psychiatrists and other mental health and social science colleagues from around the world to share how best to implement a culture-focused approach in mental health practice. We aim to overcome health and healthcare disparities and promote global mental health equity in access, engagement, and quality of care for diverse populations.

The Pre-Congress Day will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 8:30 am to 4 pm in the New York Institute of Technology Auditorium, 1871 Broadway, New York, NY 10023.

The program will consist of two plenary panels on key topics in cultural psychiatry, presented by 17 international and New York-based speakers.  One focus of the program is on cultural aspects of clinical management, based on case discussions. Taking place the day before the much-larger WCCP, with nearly 300 speakers, the Pre-Congress Day presents a unique opportunity to share in a more intimate gathering with colleagues working in cultural mental health around the world.
