As the use of Oleoresin Capsicum by law enforcement agencies as a subject control method has become more widespread, questions about its use have surfaced accordingly. The increasing number of OC manufacturers and the different OC product formulations may cause a great deal of confusion when it comes time to make a selection. Often administrators are forced to make decisions based on the manufacturers' claims and not upon empirical data from field use by officers. The NLETC OC Aerosol Subject Control course was designed to sort out these questions and issues for law enforcement trainers and administrators. This course shows how OC can be used to reduce the need for greater force and to help protect officers and subjects from injury. Most importantly, the NLETC OC Aerosol Subject Control course teaches officers how to protect themselves and other officers from the effects of OC whenever they are sprayed, either by accident or by an attacker. Officers learn how to defend themselves and to control subjects, despite heavy OC contamination on their faces and in their eyes. This dynamic OC training is a must for all police officers to prevent them from becoming victims of OC themselves.Equipment needed: Casual or athletic clothing, footwear, holster and belt.
