The 2017 Northern Ontario First Nations Environment Conference will take place on October 3 to 5, 2017 at the Sunset Inn & Suites in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. NOFNEC is a “don’t miss” event and has become the cornerstone venue for anyone interested in discussions concerning finding the balance between economic and resource development and protecting First Nations communities, people, lands, and lifestyles. The Northern Ontario First Nations Environment Conference is aimed at helping professionals from First Nations communities to network with each other, meet representatives from organizations interested in First Nations concerns and gain training related to the environment in their communities.

NOFNEC is organized by a Planning Committee of Ontario Tribal Councils and First Nations. Participating in 2017 are Independent First Nations Alliance, Keewaytinook Okimakanak, Matawa First Nations Management Inc., Pays Plat First Nation, Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation, Shibogama First Nations Council, and Windigo First Nations Council.
