It’s both an exciting and critical moment for philanthropy. Funders are grappling with how to re-prioritize and step up to meet the needs of these times. With this sense of urgency and need to evolve, we are seeing funders acting on the need to join forces and come together in creative new ways.

NFG members are leading some of these efforts, developing new aligned funding partnerships such as the Defending the Dream Fund and Giving Projects. Recently, hundreds of funders came together in New Orleans for the 2017 UNITY Summit to discuss how to align investments along the themes of resistance, protection, and empowerment. As witnessed at CHANGE, there is energy and momentum for funders focused on social equity to come together.

Connecting, organizing, and mobilizing philanthropy is at the core of NFG’s work. This role has increased in its value and impact as our membership and network continue to grow—we now count nearly 100 institutions in our membership, with hundreds of individuals participating in our programming. The importance of coming together is clear.

We are so excited to do just that as we gather this network and welcome in new funders and partners at our 2018 National Convening in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5-7.

Our Convening will provide an opportunity to connect with grantmakers committed to racial, social, economic, and gender justice in the U.S. We will share models, strengthen partnerships, and forge new alliances with the goal of moving resources to support innovative place-based work led by and benefitting communities of color and low-income communities. If you believe in this work, this is a conference you will not want to miss.

As with all of NFG’s work, our National Convening is driven by our members. NFG’s staff, board, and conference co-chairs look forward to working with our members to develop a convening that truly furthers and enhances your critical work. If your institution is not already a member, we encourage you to join NFG now to take advantage of special member registration rates.
