Mountain Bike Search & Rescue Operator (L3)
How to provide Emergency Response and search and rescue in an urban or rural / wilderness environment on Mountain Bikes!
Candidates should be able to ride in varied terrain stopping as appropriate for search and riding exercises, for at least 10 miles, with a road worthy mountain bike.
This course can be adapted for other responder groups like Medics, Security, Police, etc

Level 3 (MBSAR Full Operators) Course
• Can prepare, plan, execute safe MBSAR Operations
• Can deploy operationally on Mountain Bike for Operations
• Is capable many types of SAR Mountain Bike use
NOTE:
If you do not have a driving / motorcycle license you may need to take traffic law test to prove understanding of laws of the road for certification and use by an official department sue to the need to operate on roadways.
We prefer First Aid and CPR Training for operators.

Graduates of the course earn the NEW coveted Mountain Bike Search and Rescue (MBSAR) Qualification cloth badge for Mountain Bike SAR Operators showing competency to deploy on Mountain Bikes in Search and Rescue.

Mountain Bike Search and Rescue L3 OPERATOR
Introduction
This is a competency based programme level and upon successful completion the candidate is trained to respond as a Level 3 Mountain Bike SAR Operator.
MBSAR (or any other Mountain Bike Emergency Services Response) it is very useful but comes with it certain tips and tricks as well as liabilities. this course provide certification to use a Mountain Bike i Emergency Response operations pertaining to SAR
100% attendance is expected. (Absence or lateness from any portion of the course will be evaluated on a case by base basis but may exclude the candidate from evaluation / certification.)

Dress
Comfortable clothing suitable for the activities or riding a bike and attending a class.
PPE including:
- Bike Helmet
- Clear glasses / Sunglasses
- Hi-Vis Reflective Vest
- Riding gloves (optional)
- Whistle
- Close toed shoes (trainers)
Kit / Equipment:
You need your own road worthy (safe to ride) Mountain Bike suitable for regular riding activities.
Fitness / Medical / Activities:
This activity is very practical assumes a basic fitness level or higher.
Medical Conditions:
Any Medical Conditions such as chronic lung or heart complaints, vertigo, vestibular dysfunctions (loss of balance), loss of use of limbs or poor eyesight and other senses, pregnancy, syncope, fainting, high blood pressure, etc. should be announced as this may preclude you from being able to participate in this physical aspects of this course.
(NB: Those who wish to complete the Level 2 and higher practical training and certification school will need to have good basic fitness.)
Food:
Please advise iof you have any allergies (i.e., Peanut)
Bring food and drink. Lunch is not provided.
This is practical and on the go. You should bring a packed lunch in a napsack / ruck sack / back pack.
Bring water.
Certification
Upon successful completion, certification will be for two years.
(Instructor courses require that First Aid, CPR are kept current.)

We will accept First Aid and CPR from the Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, American Heart Association, Canadian / British / American Ambulance Services or providers approved by DIMERSAR Medical Committee.

Please note that all courses are paid for up front and in full (unless a previous arrangement has been made). Any cancellations befoe 7 days are due a full refund. Any cancellations within 7 to 4 days may be substituted or credited toward another course. There are no cancellations or refunds within 4 due to the expenses incurred and the course being confirmed but if it's not within 48 hours - there may be substitutions.
NO DRINKING / SMOKING / VAPING
Please note there is NO drinking during the course. Anyone impaired by drugs, alcohol or medication will not be able to attend training.
We support the Government's stand on non-smoking and ask any smoking, including vaping - not be done in the proximity of others during the course.
SAFETY
We have a duty of care and require a high degree of safe practise during the course. There are numerous potential hazards and risks. We ask everyone to take responsibility for their own and each others health and safety. Any unsafe practises or areas should be reported.
MEDICAL
If anyone feels unwell or is nursing a cold or infection etc. please feel free to discuss it with the DIMERSAR Directing Staff. We also carry a medical kit for emergencies.
