Join Don and Jack from Wild Birds Unlimited for a bird walk at the Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds on Friday, February 16 from 9 - 11 AM. This is the most popular birding site in the county, with lots of waterbirds, raptors, and songbirds visible at close quarters via the flat, well-maintained trail that borders the ponds.
Participation is free, but limited to 16 participants. You can read more about the birds of Las Gallinas on our website or check recent sightings at the Las Gallinas eBird page. Walk will cancel in case of heavy rain. If you have any questions about the walk, please contact us at wbumarin@gmail.com or (415) 893-0500.
To reach the ponds, travel east on Smith Ranch Rd in San Rafael. After crossing the train tracks at the entrance to McGinnis park, turn immediately left, following the signs for the wildlife ponds. Continue to the end of the road, where a small lot and roadside parking provide access to the ponds. The group will meet at the bridge leading from the parking area to the ponds.
