Soil Health Partnership demo farmers Bruce and Wade Kent will be hosting an open house soil health field day at their farm. Please bring your questions about soil health and field management. We will have equipment on display, experts in soil and water management on hand to share their experinces and staff from various organizations to share informaiton about local resouces. Boxed lunches will be availabe to eat on site or take with from 10:45a.m. 12:00p.m.

The Soil Health Partnership brings together diverse partner organizations including commodity groups, federal agencies, universities and environmental groups to work toward the common goal of improving soil health. Over a period of at least 10 years, the SHP will identify, test and measure farm management practices that improve soil health while benefiting farmers and the environment. Elyssa McFarland is the Soil Health Partnership Field Manager for Iowa. Raised on a grain and livestock farm east of Columbus Junction, Iowa, she attended Iowa State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy and spent summers as an intern with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Elyssa recently completed a dual Master's degree in Agronomy and Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
