LEARN TO ACTIVATE GROUP PARTICIPATION & APPLY IT TO ONE-ON-ONE COACHING

To anyone involved in the leadership and facilitation of groups and teams, including Supervisors, Executive Directors, Managers, Facilitators, Trainers, Consultants, Coaches, and even team members, discussions makes up a large part of your work – be it leading, conducting, facilitating or merely participating in them. More often than not, some of these discussions end up nowhere, others lead to even more meetings, and only a very few are surprisingly productive.

The Focused Conversation Method is a structured process to help in planning and facilitating a meaningful exchange of ideas. It is a phased reflection that is versatile enough to be applied to almost any kind of issue, in large-group high-participation environments, and in one-on-one mentoring sessions. Use it to achieve shared understanding and include everyone in the discussion.

You will learn to process your thoughts in an orderly manner, quickly capture the best ideas generated, prevent unnecessary conflicts, minimize hidden agendas and reduce the time and effort spent on unproductive meetings.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Through hands-on activities, we will explore first-hand proven processes and facilitation methods for conducting purposeful and productive discussions, and learn to apply them to different situations.

You will learn:

  • How to prepare and plan for a productive meeting
  • How to process information and reach a thoughtful conclusion without information overload
  • How to ask questions to stimulate candid feedback and surface the best ideas
  • How to interpret, evaluate and analyse inputs during discussions
  • How to decide on actions and get commitment from participants

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM THE WORKSHOP

The ICA Focused Conversation Workshop conducted by Lawrence Philbrook and Frieda Lin is designed to equip you with the necessary tools for improving your effectiveness in facilitating virtually every form of communication. An experiential learning approach ensures that you can immediately apply your workshop learnings to your next meeting.

With techniques including ORID (Objective, Reflective, Interpretive, Decisional), you will be able to lead structured conversations via strategic questioning to help the team reach an agreeable decision and achieve results.

AN INVITATION TO THE COMMUNITY
