SPEAKERS

RITA GARCIA

AM Anchor/Reporter

Fox 26 News

Rita Garcia is the newest anchor to join FOX 26 Morning News from 4-10 a.m.  It's a drastic change waking up at 2AM, but no match for Garcia who's worked her way up to the morning shift since her early beginnings as Cameron County Bureau Chief in Brownsville, TX.

She's a Texas native and has spent the last couple of years working as Fox 26 weekend anchor right here in Houston.  Before coming to Houston though, she reported for three years for the largest duopoly in southern California, KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles.  It was in Los Angeles that she reported from the red carpet, where she interviewed Justin Bieber and the Royal Couple, to the raging California fires and severe weather where she experienced reporting her first EARTHQUAKE! Rita has certainly had her fair share of "general assignments."

During her tenure in California, she was honored with the prestigious "Tracy Miller Merit Award" for her dedication to the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) organization in L.A. This inspired her to continue to devote her time to journalism organizations in the Houston area.

Rita is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.  When she's not on the set or digging up stories, Rita loves to run, cook and take her rescued pup ROCKY for long walks. Rita admits she is a news junkie but when she's not at work she loves to run, cook, and always keep her followers in the loop on Twitter.

JACKIE MALDONADO

Director of Marketing

Houston Texans

Jackie attended Texas A&M University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology. She joined the Houston Texans in May of 2013 after spending seven years with the Houston Rockets and two years with the San Antonio Spurs in Game Presentation. Jackie’s primary responsibilities include game presentation, fan development, events, and grassroots outreach. She helps create the game day experience through national performers, relationships with celebrity influencers, interactive game features that appeal to fans and sponsors and creating the game day atmosphere. Under Jackie’s direction, the Marketing-Events staff is responsible for youth football outreach and fan club engagement and development.

Jackie has risen to be one of the most staff members with the Houston Texans and throughout the NFL.  IN 2015, Jackie earned the coveted Spirit of the Bull Award, awarded to the one Texans' employee who best exemplifies a commitment to excellence.  In 2017, she was inducted into the Latin Sports Hall of Fame.
