Tuesday, 23 October 2018 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM CST

Maude Cobb Activity Center, 100 Grand Blvd., Longview, Texas, 75602, United States.

This conference is designed for educators, social workers, counselors, nonprofit representatives, youth development leaders, and community leaders. It offers CEU's to both LPCs and LSW's! Hope Talks will provide innovative ideas that spark hope for a more compassionate, well-balanced community. The theme this year is “Making a More Mindful Community”. It will be a day full of networking and education and you are sure to leave with new tools to use for yourself or for those you serve.

This year Hope Talks Keynote Speakers will be the founders of the Baltimore-based Holistic Life Foundation (HLF). This nonprofit organization is committed to "nurturing the wellness of children and adults in underserved communities." HLF has been featured in Oprah's magazine, CNN, CBS, and PBS for the innovative work they are doing with youth.

Holistic Life Foundation's Definition of Mindfulness:

"Mindfulness is the combination of awareness, centering, and being present. It is the awareness of your thoughts, emotions, actions, and energy. It is the ability to get centered and stay centered in all situations. And it is the ability to be present, not letting internal and external distractions take you from the current moment. This leads to the development of empathy, compassion, love, balance, and harmony."

In addition, breakout sessions will be offered by: Toni Dussex - Owner of Freedom Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor, Vickie Echols, M.Ed. - Consultant, Leadership Coach, and Co-founder of The LIMES Project: Learning Is Mindful, Emotional and Social, Kathy Newsom - Consultant, Yoga Instructor and Co-founder of The LIMES Project, Shalonda Adams – Local Administrator and Founder of Adams’ Academia, and Winsted Psychology Services.

We welcome anyone who is looking for innovative ideas, community collaboration opportunities, and hope to join us October 23, 2018!
