FOR DEEPER HEALING AND MENTAL WELL-BEING OF OUR PARTICIPANTS, THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN SHIFTED TO BEING FOR WOMEN OF COLOR.
ADDITIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR ALL WOMEN COMING SOON.
As more and more people become aware of the long experienced burden of racism in our lives, we must ask what steps we can take to break the cycle of a culture that socializes us to internalize racism.
How can we identify the impact of racism on our self-perception?
What strategies can we use to see ourselves as whole whether the oppressed or oppressor?
This workshop is for those who identify as a woman or femme and have a foundational understanding of institutional and structural racism. THIS IS NOT AN INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP. Please join, Regent Brown, as your guide to take your personal journey to liberation to the next level.
We strive to create a space where anti-black racism is both named and addressed. While we know racism does not function in a bubble, we will not overlook any oppression. This is a collective space. Your participation is necessary to name and frame oppression as I can only speak for the identities I inhabit.
Participants will:
- Gain deeper understanding of internalized racism and the impacts on our relationships.
- Raise awareness on how internalized racism manifests in them.
- Focus on identifying emotional and trauma responses rooted in racism.
- Reflect and strategize on what personal liberation may look like and how to strive for wholeness.
- Please bring a notebook, writing tools, closed water bottle and/or tea cup, and items to support your physical well-being in the space.
- Light snacks will be available, along with filtered water, tea and coffee. Please feel free to bring any vegan and gluten-free snacks to share.
PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. PAYMENT CAN BE ACCEPTED IN VARIOUS FORMS WITHIN 24 HOURS OF SESSION.
