The Blum Center for Developing Economies, Haviland Rd, Berkeley, CA, 94709, United States.

The Freedom in Action Conference is a biennial event organized by the Anti-Trafficking Coalition at Berkeley that aims to bring together students, professionals, and community members to discuss the issue of human trafficking at home and abroad. The conference is an opportunity for us to host activists from across the Bay Area and facilitate a deeper discussion about how to responsibly and effectively combat human trafficking.

The theme of this year’s conference is “The Politics of Trafficking”, which we hope to use to foster a dialogue about how anti-human trafficking efforts are pursued in government, the language we use to discuss the issue, and how trafficking plays a role in the national and international economy throughout various industries.

This conference will encourage discussion between people with different conceptions and experiences of human trafficking and aims to present best-practices for engaging in anti-trafficking work, and to connect with local organizations leading the anti-trafficking movement in the Bay Area.

This event is hosted by the Anti-Trafficking Coalition at Berkeley, in partnership with the Blum Center for Developing Economies and the Human Rights Center at the UC Berkeley School of Law.
