Flamenco Fridays presents an evening of soulful, authentic Flamenco, with guest artists La Emi - Dancer, and Vicente Griego - Singer, accompanied by Jake Mossman - guitarist and Paco Antonio & Lucilene de Geus - rhythmic accompanists, as well as student dancers to be announced.
VICENTE GRIEGO “El Cartucho”
From Dixon/Embudo, NM, Vicente has devoted his life to the study of Cante Flamenco, the art of flamenco singing. In 1992, Vicente began touring the US, Canada, and Latin America with the Jose Greco II Flamenco Dance Company, where he was mentored by Caño Roto singer, Alfonso Gabarri,“El Veneno” of Madrid, Spain. He sings for Yjastros, the American Flamenco Repertoire Company out of Albuquerque and tours nationally and internationally year round. Vicente Griego is currently presenting the musical group ReVoZo.

La Emi began studying flamenco at the age of four with the Maria Benitez Institute for Spanish Arts (ISA), working with the ISA's youth company at age 10, and teaching in the Northern NM public schools at age 12. In 2006, she began teaching for Moving Arts Española and ISA. In December of 2011, La Emi was nominated and selected as one of the 12 young and emerging artists in Pasatiempo. She received the 2012 Santa Fe Mayor’s Melissa Engestrom Youth Artist Award for Excellence in the Arts. She has collaborated with the Compania Chuscales y Mina Fajardo, Entreflamenco, the company of Antonio Granjero and Estefania Ramirez and the Juan Siddi Flamenco Company. Since 2013, La Emi has traveled to Spain to study intensively with Carmela Greco and other top artists including José Galván, Juana Amaya, Yolanda Heredia, Ivan Vargas Heredia, orombo, Rocio Alcaide Ruiz. She has performed under the direction of Carmela Greco, José Galván, and Torombo and at major venues and events including the Carmela Greco Seminario de Flamenco y Danza Española in Madrid; Cueva Los Tarantos, in the Sacramonte of Granada; in Sevilla at the Teatro Alameda Festival Flamenco; and the Café de Chinitas in Madrid. Currently she is teaching at the EmiArteFlamenco Academy, as well as performing in many venues throughout the country.
