About the presenters:

Professor Alex Carter is the director of the Edson Queiroz Foundation Mediation Program and the director of Clinical Programs at Columbia Law School.  She has trained U.N. delegates, Brazilian judges, and Japanese ambassadors in facilitative mediation and has mediated thousands of disputes, from Equal Employment Opportunity cases to small claims in New York City Civil Court.

Professor Shawn Watts is the associate director of Columbia’s mediation program. As a law student, he won the Jane Marks Murphy Prize for clinical advocacy and developed a course in Native American Peacemaking, an indigenous form of conflict resolution. He now teaches his Native Peacemaking course at Columbia and Yale.
