R is a powerful, open source statistical programming language that is quickly becoming the most popular and routinely employed in a range ecological analyses, as well as more broadly in the field of data science.  Aimed at beginners, workshop participants will be shown how to setup the R environment and introduced to the R statistical programming language, including inputting and manipulating ecological data.  We’ll cover typical tasks like exploring data with graphs and calculating biodiversity indices, before moving onto more involved analyses such as rarefaction and diversity partitioning.
