According to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5.7 million Americans have Alzheimer’s, and 16.1 million Americans provide unpaid care to those with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. With statistics like these, it’s no wonder that geriatric social workers (regardless of their practice) increasingly encounter clients affected by dementia.  But how much do you know about dementia care?  What interventions work well with caregivers? How do interventions differ when working with clients in the early-, mid-, and late-stages of dementia?  NASW DC Metro Chapter’s Social Workers in Aging shared interest group presents a panel discussion on early-, mid-, and late-stage social work interventions for older adults with dementia and for caregivers. 

 

Workshop attendees will receive 2 hours of continuing education credit.
