Coordinated Community Response - 24th and 25th of July 2017
Coordinated Community Response (CCR) is an interagency effort to change the climate of tolerance of violence by institutionalising practices and procedures which centralise victim safety and offender accountability in domestic assault cases. This two day CCR Workshop will convey through lecture, video, exercise and interviews what the Duluth model is and how to use it as an organising model when creating a coordinated community response to domestic violence.
Working with Male Perpetrators of Violence Against Women - 26th and 27th of July 2017
This workshop will reintroduce the Duluth Model of working with male perpetrators, familiarising new practitioners with the model whilst assisting experienced practitioners to further develop their expertise. Scott Miller, a key member of the DAIP (Domestic Abuse Intervention Program) team, is pleased to share the development and improvements in their approach to working with male perpetrators of violence against women.
The workshop will address:
- theories that guide the ‘Creating a Process for Change for Men Who Batter’ program.
- facilitating structured, interactive classes.
- establishing and maintaining dialogue while avoiding collusion.
- using control logs, equality logs, exercises including role-plays and video vignettes.
- helping men identify and change beliefs that support violence.
- learning how a ‘Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter’ programs fits within a Duluth Model interagency coordinated community response.
Child Safety Interventions in Domestic Violence Cases - 28th of July 2017
This workshop is designed to support the broader service system in the assessment of risk and the needs of children in the context of domestic violence. This workshop is appropriate for policy makers, child protection workers, family services, Child FIRST, legal services and family violence services.
The workshop will include:
- a critical examination of how we work with women and children experiencing violence and the men who abuse them.
- how we re-prioritise work practices and policies which improve the safety of women and children.
- an exploration of the systems and institutional processes in place to respond to perpetrator accountability whilst centring the safety of women and children.
Evening Gatherings - 24th and the 26th of July 2017
ShantiWorks would like to invite attendees to an evening gathering on the 24th and the 26th of July, from 5.30-7.30pm.
