Food: On site lunch is provided. A hosted social hour with heavy appetizers, soda, water and beer will start at 1700.  

 

Parking: The Clover Park Techical College campus will be undergoing construction near the McGavic Center, resulting in road closures to the main entry to the McGavick Conference Center. Please arrive 20 minute early to account for parking and registration.

 

 

About the Speakers:

 

Chief Harold Scoggins, Seattle Fire Department

Chief Scoggins has more than 30 years of fire service experience. He started his firefighting career as a member of the United States Air Force where he served as a firefighter. In 1989, Scoggins joined the Glendale Fire Department where he advanced through the ranks serving as Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief and in 2008 being named as Fire Chief. Scoggins has a Master’s degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, and an Associate of Science degree in Fire Technology. In April 2015, Scoggins became the Chief of the Seattle Fire Department.

 

John Nance, ABC Analyst, Professional Speaker, Author & Consultant

John is a native Texan who grew up in Dallas. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from SMU and a Juris Doctor from SMU School of Law, and is a liscensed attorney. Named Distinguished Alumni of SMU for 2002, he is also a decorated Air Force pilot veteran of Vietnam and Operations Desert Storm / Desert Shield and a Lt. Colonel in the USAF Reserve, well known for his involvement in Air Force human factors flight safety education, and one of the civilian pioneers of Crew Resource Management (CRM). For over 30 years, John has also served as a leader and pioneer in both avaiation and medical safety and quality, and for the past 18 years he has become a familiar face to North American television audiences as the Aviation Analyst for ABC World News and Good Morning America.  

 

Capt. Mark VonAppen

A member of the Palo Alto (CA) Fire Department since 1998,  Mark is a captain assigned to the Suppression Division. He is a committee member for California State Fire Training and has contributed to the development of firefighter survival and rapid intervention curricula. He is an instructor for the Santa Clara County Joint Fire Academy, a recruit instructor for Palo Alto Fire, and a member of the “Nobody Gets Left Behind” training group.

Ret. Capt. Jeff Griffin, Phoenix Fire Department 

Capt. Jeff Griffin is a 30 year veteran of the Phoenix Fire Department. He saved the lives of two fellow firefighters and has won the Medal of Valor, one of the highest honors given to firefighters.
