Sholto Douglas Named Lecture
100 YEARS OF BRITISH AIRWAYS:
CELEBRATING THE PAST AND LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
ALEX CRUZ
CHAIRMAN & CEO, BRITISH AIRWAYS
PROGRAMME INTRO
British Airways (BA) is one of the world's leading airlines, and the UK's national flag carrier, offering an extensive global route network across 5 continents. BA’s earliest predecessor, Aircraft Transport & Travel Ltd. (AT&T), inaugurated the world's first scheduled international air service with a converted de Havilland 4A day bomber leaving Hounslow (later Heathrow) Airport to Bourget in Paris on 25th August 1919.
Over the next 100 years, the company has grown from those humble beginnings to become the largest airline in Britain based on fleet size. In April 2019, the RAeS Heathrow Branch is delighted to welcome Alex Cruz, the Chairman & CEO of British Airways to present the Society’s 31st Sholto Douglas Named Lecture.
Alex will talk about British Airways’ celebration of its Centenary this year, tracing the airline’s history back to 1919, its current £6.5bn investment for customers, and what opportunities and challenges the next hundred years may hold.

NOTE FOR REGISTRATION
Thanks for registering your attendance via our Eventzilla site.
We have streamlined our event registration process by introducing online booking platform as an alternative to email and telephone registeration for our lectures/events, as well as developing a way of tracking numbers on any lectures/events that may be oversubscribed.
When you book, please select the relevant ticket option, and the number of tickets you would like. The booking confirmation will be automatically emailed to you, and that there is currently no option for us to admit last minute registration at the door.
The application asks for both registration and attendee details - even if there is only one person on the booking, you must fill in all fields. If you are reserving more than one ticket please ensure you enter the name of all attendees so they are reflected on the attendee list.
If there is any problem incurred during the registration process, or if there's anything we can improve on this tool, please contact the Branch Secretary –
