The HeadStrong Mentor Training Program is designed to train professionals, family members, caregivers, tutors, and anyone living or working with people who live with brain injury. Mentoring is a traditional way societies pass on knowledge by working side by side and setting a positive example. This training will help you reach your potential to be an empowering support person.
In Identity & Meaningful Projects we focus on these two topics from the Mentor Training. Identity is key to our motivations and roles in our communities and is nearly always impacted after brain injury. We work with tools and exercises to recognize pre-injury identity and an authentic desired identity. Supporting a person’s desired identity helps them find a positive role in their community.
Meaningful Projects & Activities is based on the work we do in recognizing identity. We brainstorm projects that are meaningful to the person. We use exercises and tools to make ambitious projects doable. We work with planning tools for successful projects – Goal, Obstacle, Plan, Do, Review, affectionately termed: GOPDR When our identity is supported and we are engaged in meaningful projects, our sense of belonging and purpose are restored. HeadStrong provides a binder with all training materials and handouts to use in your work or home setting.
