This presentation will explore recent developments in our understanding of trauma and its impact on behavior, and our bodies. Participants will learn skills to assist adults or children to cope with trauma effects including; flashbacks, anxiety, and acting out behavior. New research on the neurobiology of trauma suggests that when unresolved, the mind and body continues to respond as if threatened. Creating safety is essential for beginning to address these behaviors. Methods that promote the development of safety in therapy will also be explored.
