Workshops/Ateliers:

Government Relations Trends Panel

With a National Housing Strategy in the works, affordable, sustainable housing is a hot topic right now.  How can your co-op take advantage of this momentum?  We’ll look at the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges that co-ops and the rest of the affordable housing sector are facing right now.  Expect to come away with the latest on what’s new and what’s on the horizon, and tips on how you can be a part of shaping what’s to come.

Panelists:

· City Councillor Catherine McKenney

· Tim Ross, CHF Canada

· Mike Bulthuis, the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa

Crisis Management

Despite everyone’s best efforts, sometimes tragedies such as violence, suicide, or acts of hate and discrimination will happen in our co-op communities. Coping with the aftermath can present challenges that no-one could have foreseen. We’ll take a look at what resources exist in the community, how you can connect your members with supports, and best practices for supporting vulnerable members of your co-op community.

Mental Health & Your Co-op Community

Mental health is something that many of us struggle with, in many different ways. In this workshop, we’ll take a look at how we can support our fellow co-op members who are experiencing mental health challenges. We’ll  expand our understanding of common mental illnesses and talk about stigma, discrimination, and how to connect members to services and create a supportive community in your co-op.

 Tradeshow/ Salon Commercial

The Trade Show is your opportunity to network with our wonderful Cost Cutters and with exciting local vendors. Find out about products and services available to your co-op. Get some great deals for your co-op, and enter to win door prizes!
