The 10th Annual “Ride for the Red” motorcycle run will be held September 1st of Labor Day weekend to raise funds for the "Service to the Armed Forces" program of the American Red Cross. The event is supported by the Arkport-Corning HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapter and Arkport Cycles. The ride is in honor of local Veterans and Gold Star families from all wars.
“Ride for the Red” will be held from the American Legion at 45 Olcott Road S, Big Flats, NY 14814. The ride leaves at 10:30 a.m. sharp and will be led by NYS motorcycle Troopers through the beautiful Finger Lakes Region. Stops will be at the Bath VA center and Arkport Cycles where special discounts will be available to ride participants.
Pre-registration “on-line” is highly recommended - deadline is August 29th. On-site registration runs from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
The pre-registration cost is $25 for the rider and $25 for the passenger. A commemorative t-shirt is included for pre-registered riders and passengers. A limited quantity of t-shirts will be available for purchase the day of the ride. A meal, which will be served while at Arkport Cycles, is included for all participants.
There will be an auction after the ride for several cool items, including paintings by area artist Michael Barr. He will work on the paintings during “Ride for the Red” and looks forward to presenting them to the lucky bidder. The perpetual Chapter Challenge Award, similar to the Stanley Cup, will be awarded to the club with the most number of participating members. This award will be re-presented at future “Ride for the Red” events. The award is on display at Arkport Cycles in Arkport, NY.
The American Red Cross will also hold a blood drive at the Big Flats American Legion on Saturday, 9/1, from 1 to 5 p.m.
